Dear Colleagues,

In a couple of months from now we shall gather on the Greek island of Hydra 
for our fifth international Hydra Mule and Donkey Conference.

We are hugely excited about this year's conference. We have a fine range of 
speakers, covering all aspects of mule and donkey culture. In addition we 
have speakers  who have worked with mules and donkeys in a variety of 
interesting situations. Furthermore, our conference will coincide with the 
visit of Greek Animal Welfare vets to Hydra, so we shall have  chance to see 
see the care and development of the island's equids at first hand. The 
conference will also include a mule trekking trip, for those who wish to 
explore the island.

There will also be opportunities to discuss with some of the donkey owners 
and muleteers on the island.

As you probably know, on Hydra there are no private cars, lorries or motor 
bikes. Land transportation is done by mule and donkey. This makes it a 
unique and precious cultural space.

Hydra is easily reached, by a regular hydrofoil service from Piraeus, the port of Athens. 
The journey takes about 90 minutes.
